Living and working with children can be one of the most joyful experiences imaginable. It can also be frustrating, maddening, exhausting and overwhelming. Faber and Mazlish have created workshop kits for adults who care about communication and connection with children. People who are new to the How To Talk approach and those who have read the books and want to dig deeper can practice their skills and share their stories with a group of like-minded folks. The workshops provide a series of exercises, role plays and discussion questions that will help all adults who work or live with children to:
* Engage a child’s willing cooperation
* Deal with a child’s negative feelings — frustration, disappointment, anger
* Express anger without being hurtful
* Set firm limits and still maintain goodwill
* Use alternatives to punishment that promote self-discipline and responsibility
* Encourage positive relationships between children
* Resolve family conflicts peacefully
